Ancestral tradition of Baking Bread (Pain Boulli)

The village of Villar d’Arène is very proud of its unique tradition: “le pain boulli”. Over the centuries, this bread was the staple diet of the Faranchins (locals).
Every year this bread is baked on this celebration day along with another type of bread “pain d’étape”. A variety of local dishes, prepared communally, are served on the village square.
